Food Is Community | A Pepin 90/90 & Catalyst Kitchens National Network Celebration

Join us for an unforgettable evening where food brings us together, community lifts us up, and culinary excellence takes center stage.

Featuring six extraordinary chefs from Pittsburgh and beyond, this special event will showcase locally-sourced ingredients, regional producers, and the power of food to connect, transform, and inspire.

All proceeds benefit Community Kitchen Pittsburgh, a nonprofit that helps individuals overcome barriers to employment and obtain quality employment in the culinary industry through training and job placement support. The event also supports Catalyst Kitchens, a national network of transformative culinary training programs.

We are honored to be joined by the Jacques Pépin Foundation in celebrating the legendary Chef Jacques’s 90th Birthday, as part of the Official Nationwide 90/90 Dinner Series.

This is more than a gala — it’s a tribute to the chefs who inspire us, the communities that support us, and the belief that FOOD IS COMMUNITY.

Mt. Lebanon Public Library Summer Reading Kick-Off & Midsummer Night Festival - Food Truck Appearance

Sign-up for Summer Reading is happening all day long for children, teens, and adults! Kids and Teens can kick-off their reading adventure during the day with spin art, glitter tattoos, and paper sculptures! At 4 pm the party moves outdoors with the start of our all-ages, family-friendly Midsummer Night Festival. Enjoy live music, food trucks, strolling performers, craft booths, a book sale, and more! Evening events will be held outside, weather permitting. 

Our Midsummer Night Festival will be located on the Southminster lawn directly across the street from the library's lower entrance. A summer reading information tent will be set up on the lawn to assist you with signing up for summer reading. We recommend bringing folding chairs and blankets to enjoy the food and entertainment on the lawn.

The #CKPghFoodTruck will be on-site ready to serve you something delicious from 4pm to 8pm.

We're so excited to welcome Chef Simon Chough, from Soju, as our Guest Chef for May!

This will be delicious evening of Korean-American Cuisine as Chef Simon volunteers his time and talents to work with our culinary students to prepare and present a fabulous multicourse meal for lucky Pittsburgh food lovers.

We hope you'll join us at the table!

This event will take place at our facility in Hazelwood on Thursday, May 29th, beginning at 5:30pm ET.

** To honor traditional Korean BBQ, Chef Simon will be serving this meal FAMILY-STYLE -- all dishes, except dessert, will be served at once for you to share with those seated at your table.

During this dinner experience, you'll have the opportunity to meet, talk, and break bread with those seated near you.”

You may have seen them on Pittsburgh Today Live recently… and we’re excited to welcome Chef Sarah Vicente and Claudine Cipriano from Modern Filipino Cuisine into our kitchen for our April Guest Chef Dinner!

They’ll be taking over our kitchen to work with our students to prepare and present a delicious 4-course Filipino meal.

Hometown Homegrown (butchery)

We’ll be at this year’s Hometown Homegrown event at the Heinz History Center with our Unified Fields Butchery!

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about our program as well as sample and purchase the locally-sourced and ethically-farmed meats that we are so proud to cut and have available for you to purchase.

At some point during the event, our Butchery team member will also be conducting a knife-sharpening demo for attendees.
